ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF DUA E SANAM E QURESH

O Allah! Send your blessings and salutations to Mohammed saww and descendents of Mohammed a.s.
O’ Allah! Curse the two idols of Quraish and their two magicians, their two rebellious people, their two accusers and their two daughters. Rebuke them, they have consumed Your sustenance and have denied Your obligations, both have discarded Your commands, have rejected Your revelation, have disobeyed Your Prophet, have destroyed Your religion, have distorted Your book, have made Your laws ineffective, have declared Your obligatory actions as incorrect, have disbelieved in Your signs, have oppressed Your friends, have favoured Your enemies, have spread corruption among Your people, have made Your world unstable and subject to loses.
O’ Allah! Send Your curses on them and their helpers as they have ruined the house of Your prophet, have dug the door of his house, broken the roof, have brought down the walls, have turned upside down the highly respected symbols (i.e. skies) to the lower status (i.e., ground). His explicit laws to the implicit jargon, have destroyed Your ‘selected’ inhabitants, have killed their supporters have put righteous to death, their children have been killed and confiscated His Prophet’s pulpit and denied rights of the successors of Prophet’s knowledge to the divine pulpit, they themselves have desired for the prophet-hood, have ascribed a partner to their Lord, thus consider their sins to be absolute, and make their abode in 'saqar' forever, and You know what 'saqar does to its inhabitants! ‘It leaves nothing, nor lets anything remain intact. O’ Allah, send Your chastisement on them; to the extent of the sins of every disobedient, and the covering of the truth, and all the pulpits which they have used, and the believers whom they have hurt and the disbelievers whom they have rewarded,And to the number of pious people whom they have troubled, and those who have driven out of their cities, and their support for the disbelievers, and their atrocities towards (Your appointed) Imam and have changed the obligatory laws, and have destroyed the traditions of the Holy Prophet, and whatever evils they have concealed, the blood which they shed, have changed the goodness and have altered the commands, have created disbelief, the lie for which they have cheated, the inheritance which they have plundered, and stopped the booties from them and have consumed the prohibited wealth,And that 'Khums' (the fifth part) which they considered as lawful for them, and those evils which they planted, and that cruelty which they regularly practised, that oppression, which they spread, those promises, which they dishonoured, those covenant which they broke, those lawful matters which were reverted to be unlawful, and those forbidden acts which were made lawful, That hypocrisy which they have concealed in their hearts, and to the amount of treachery which they bore in their hearts, and that atrocity which targeted masooma’s(s.a) stomach and inflicting lethal harm, and that 'pahlu' which they broke, and that door which they burnt-down, the Prophet’s writing which they shredded and those ‘haq’ gatherings which they dispersed and those degraded ones which were honoured, and those honourable who were insulted ,and (curse them) by the number of rights which they have usurped, and the orders of (Your) Imam(a.s) which they opposed, impinge Your wrath on them to the extent of their atrocities.

O’ Allah! implicate Your curses on them to the extent of alterations they have introduced in Quran and the cover-ups in their lies, tempering with the divine wills, Lords deeds which were made redundant , and those promises which were disregarded, and those verdicts which were made void. Refusal of their allegiances, presentation of excuses, introduction of breach of trust, their acts of climbing on hills (for their lives) and those fixed rules which they turned other way round and all that defects which they possessed. Bestow Your curses on them.
O’ Allah curse those two, secretly as well as openly, persistently, everlasting, non-stoppable one and innumerable times. Such a whipping that commences in the morning but does not ends at night. Such a beating should be on those tyrants, and their helpers, their associates, their friends and their fans .those who have attracted to them and those who acknowledge their deeds, those who present proof for them, and on those who standby their followers and those who follow their words, and those who approve their actions.
(Then recite four times).

O Allah! Send such a harsh chastisement upon them, that the dwellers of Hell start screaming for mercy,
O Lord of the Universe !accept this prayer from me.
A prayer to follow as prescribed by Mola a.s.:
O Allah! curse be upon all of them (which have been cursed by Imam Ali a.s.) and extend your blessings to Mohammed a.s. and his pure progeny, and keep rendering your lawful deeds for me and help me in keeping away from the unlawful implications as well as lack of subsistence. My Lord! Indeed I have committed wrong by indulging into sins and implicating wrath for myself, I admit my wrong doings and I come forward with the hope that You will forgive me. I will return to You my Lord! and seek Your blessings and forgiveness. Oh! The most gracious and explicable and forgive-able. Oh Allah! Send your blessings and bounties on the chief of all Prophets and on his pure and spiritually clean progeny, The most merciful and the most beneficial!

Background and Benifits of Dua e Sanam e Quresh

The prayer of Sanam-e-Quraish (the idols of Quraish) is a very authentic prayer
of Amir-ul-Momineen Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib a.s and so has been recognised by
all renowned Shia historians and narration of traditions.
It has been narrated by Abdullah bin Abbas that one night I went to the masjid-e-
Nabvi saww to offer my late-night prayers and saw Amir-ul-Momineen a.s offering his
supplications. I decided to sit in a corner and listen to Mola Ali’s (a.s) recitation of
Quran and prayers. After completing Salat, Mola. recited supplications which I
had never heard before. Later, I approached Imam Ali a.s and said may I be your
ransom, please tell me more about those prayers which I have never heard in my
life before.
Mola Ali a.s. then replied, it was ‘Dua-e-Sanam-e-Quraish’ and added, by Allah !
Who owns the lives of Mohammed s.a.w.w  and Ali a.s, whoever would recite this prayer
will get an extra-ordinary reward from Allah, similar to assisting Prophet
Mohammed s.a.w.w during the battles of ‘Ohad and Tabooq’,(another narration from Mola Ali a.s  says:
"He who recites this Dua is (in terms of reward) like a marksman who have shot
1000 arrows in the battle of Badr and Ohad beside the Prophet s.a.w.w"
Ref:Mustadrak al-Wasa'il, v4, p405, Hadith #5021-Bihar al-Anwar, v82/85, p260, Hadith #5)
and would achieve the martyred status in the presence of His prophet s.a.w.w, and the reward of 100 Hajj and Umraas as an associate of Prophet Mohammed as well as ‘sawab’ of 1000
months of fasting. In addition, one will be on the side of Rasool Allah s.a.w.w and
Aimah Masomeen a.s  on the day of judgement and Allah. will forgive all his/her
sins, despite the fact if his/her committed sins are equivalent to the stars in the
sky, grains of sand in the wilderness and leaves of all trees. Also the reciter will
be saved from punishment in the grave and a window from heaven will be
installed in his/her grave. InshaAllah, prayers will be rewarded, through the sanctity of the supplication,
and Oh! Ibnay Abbas if any of our friends is, in particular, engulfed by hardship,
he/she would surely find a refuge through recitation of this prayer (Ref: Misbah al Kafami Page 552 Bihar ul Anwaar vol 82/85 page 260).

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF ZIARAT E AASHURA

Peace be on you, O Abu Abdullah!
Peace be on you, O son of the Apostle of Allah!
Peace be on you, O son of the commander of the faithfuls, the forebear of the successors!
Peace be on you, O son of Fatimah, the choicest among the women of the worlds!
Peace be on you, O the select, surpassing, chosen in preference over all good of Allah, and son of Allah's (such) good.

Peace be on you, who was martyred while fighting heroically in the cause of Allah, the son of Allah's fearless warrior, you were isolated and had been attacked with a vengeance!
Peace be on you and on those souls who had gathered in your camp, and strided along with you, in your journey. I pray and invoke Allah to keep all of you tranquil and restful, for ever; so far I am alive, this is my prayer, and till nights and days follow each other.
O Abu Abdullah! unbearable is the sorrow, nerve-racking is the agony, you put up with, for us and for all the (true) Muslims, crimes committed against you also shocked and unnerved the dwellers of the heavens, one and all.

May Allah condemn and damn the people who laid the basis and set up the groundwork, to wander astray and turn aside from not only you and your family but to take liberties and bear hard upon you.
May Allah condemn and damn the people who tried to obscure and deny your office and status, willfully neglected your rank and class Allah had made know in clear terms. May Allah condemn and damn the people who killed you.

May Allah condemn and damn the abettors who instigated and had a part in your murder. I turn to you and Allah, away from them, their henchmen, their followers and their friends,
O Abu Abdullah, I pray and invoke Allah to send blessings on you. I make peace with those who make their peace with you, I make war on those who go to war against you, till the Day of Judgement.
May Allah condemn and damn the family of Ziyaad and the family of Marwaan;
May Allah condemn and damn the group and the tribe of Umayyah, one and all, altogether;

May Allah condemn and damn the son of Marjaanah;
May Allah condemn and damn Umar son of Saad;
May Allah condemn and damn Shimr;
May Allah condemn and damn the people who bridled the horses and saddles for your martyrdom. I, my father and mother are at your disposal. Profound is my sorrow for you. I beg Allah, who honoured you above others, to be generous towards me on account of you, and give me the opportunity to be with the victorious Imam, the descendent of Mohammad (blessings and peace be on him and on his children from Allah) at the time of the final and decisive war against Allah's enemies.

O my Allah make me attend to Your cause, sincerely, in every respect following in Husayn's footsteps, in this world and the hereafter. O Abu Abdullah, I pray and invoke Allah to send blessings on you. I come nearer and seek greater intimacy with Allah, with His Apostle, with Ameerul Moomineen, with Fatimah, with Hasan and with you, with the help of your love and patronage, cutting off every connection with those who took up arms against you and killed you.
I disconnect all links with those who, in the beginning, took the first steps to take liberties with and bear hard upon you, I take refuge with Allah and His Apostle (blessings of Allah be on him and on his children), free from the guilt of associating with those who laid the foundation for (your suffering), devised and carried out their corrupt plan of action, boldly gave currency to reign of terror and cruelty to oppress you and your friends and followers;
I detach myself from them and present myself to Allah and to you, I (first) seek greater intimacy with Allah and then with you to win your love and patronage, and to make friends with your friends, cut off all links with your enemies, and with those who planted the seeds of hostility against you, and reject and discard their associates, their followers and their friends.

I make peace with those who made their peace with you, I search out and confront those who waged war against you, I make friends with those who stood by you, I strive against those who came in conflict with you, therefore, I make a request to Allah to acquaint (me) with the awareness that perceives you and your friends, to set me free from the corrupting influence of your enemies, to make me keep company with you in this world and in the Hereafter, stand firm beside you and follow your footsteps closely in this world and in the next world.
I beseech Him that he helps me to reach your highly praised station, given to you by Allah, (to meet you), that He provides me the opportunity to fight for justice and fairplay along with and under the leadership of the rightly guided guide (in your progeny) who surely will come and speak the truth. I beseech Allah in the name of your right and the purpose He assigned to you, that He overwhelms me with grief in memory of your sorrows, more than the personal grief that torments any one who is in great agony, sorrows which have no parallel and overshadow all calamities that took place in the history of Islam, for that matter, through out the whole universe.

O my Allah, in my on the spot situation, treat me like him (or her) who obtains from You (Your) blessings, mercy and forgiveness.
O my Allah, bring me to life again, after death, in the place Mohammad and his "Aal" (children) are dwelling, and make me depart from this world like Mohammad and his "Aal" (children) had left,
O my Allah this day is a day of rejoicing for the "Bani Umayyah", the herd of hardened criminals, the eternally damned and accursed group, a fact that had been made public by You and by Your Prophet (blessings of Allah be on him and on his children), who, in every place and at all occasions, drew attention of people to this truism.
O my Allah condemn and damn Abu Sufyaan, Yazid son of Muwa'awiyah and let it be an everlasting curse upon tem from You. Today the descendants of Ziyaad and Marwan make merry, laugh and dance because on this day they killed Husayn (blessings of Allah be on him).

O my Allah, therefore, double up the curse You bring upon them and also the punishment You decree for them.
O my Allah, I seek nearness to You today in this frame of mind, cutting off all links with them for the rest of my life, denouncing them because of my love for Your Prophet and his children, peace be on him and them.
 Then again say 100 times:
O my Allah condemn and damn the first tyrant who unjustly and wrongfully usurped that which rightly belonged to Mohammad and the children of Mohammad, and bring curse upon those who, after him, followed in his footsteps.

O my Allah condemn and damn those conspirators who vexed and harassed Husayn, showed eagerness, agreed mutually, and joined hands to kill him. O my Allah bring curse upon all of them.
 (
you may even recite only " O my Allah bring curse upon all of them". 100 times)
Then again say 100 times:
Peace be on you, O Abu Abdullah, and on those souls who came to your camp to put themselves at your disposal.
So far I am alive and the days and nights follow each other I invoke Allah to send blessings on you for ever and ever.
May Allah not make my this pledge of close association, physical as well as spiritual, with you the last fulfillment.

Peace be on Husayn, and on Ali son of Husayn, and on the children of Husayn, and on the friends of Husayn.

You may even recite only " Peace be on Husayn, and on Ali son of Husayn, and on the children of Husayn, and on the friends of Husayn." 100 times)
Then say:
O my Allah, let the curse I call down on the head of the first tyrant stick like a leech; and stay put for ever on the first, then the second, the third and the fourth.
O my Allah damn and call down evil on the fifth, Yazid son of Mua'awyah, and bring a curse upon Ubaydullah son of Ziyaad, ibna Marjanah, Umar son of Saad, and Shimr, and on the descendants of Abu Sufyaan, on the descendants of Ziyaad, on the descendants of Marwaan, till the Day of judgement.

Then go in Sajdah(prostration) and say:
O my Allah! (All) praise is for You (alone); praise of the "Ever-thankful to You", who glorify You whatever come to pass. (All) praise is for Allah for my deep-felt intense grief. O my Allah make available for me the recommendations of Husayn on the day I present myself before You, let me stand firm in safety before You on account of my sincere attachment with Husayn, along with him and his comrades, who sacrificed everything they had (heart, mind, soul and life) for Husayn, peace be on him.

BENIFITS AND BACKGROUND OF ZIARAT E AASHURA

Alqamah bin Mohammed ibn Hazrami (r.a.) narrates 'I requested Imam Baqir (a.s.) to teach me a dua that I should recite on the day of Aashoora after reciting the Ziyaarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) - from near his (a.s.) grave or from a distance.' Imam (a.s.) replied 'O Alqamah, whenever you wish to recite the Ziyaarat of Imam Husain (a.s.), you first perform two units of prayers.
Then turn towards the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.) and while pointing towards it, you first say 'Salam' and then 'Takbir'. Thereafter, you recite this Ziyaarat (Ziyaarate Aashoora). If you do so, then as if you have recited the supplication read by the angels while visiting the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.). Moreover, when you recite this Ziyaarat, then
(a) Allah will increase your grade ten lakh times
(b) You will be included among those people who were martyred along with Imam Husain (a.s.)
(c) On the day of Judgment, you will be included among the martyrs
(d) You will get the reward of all the Prophets (a.s.) who have visited the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.) from the day that he (a.s.) was martyred till date. And the way of reciting the Ziyaarat is like this…' (Then Imam (a.s.) recited the entire Ziyaarate Aashoora for Alqamah (r.a.)) (Kaamil al-Ziyaarat, Ibn Qoolwayh, Ch. 71, p. 194)Imam-e-Zamana (a.j.t.f..) has forcefully stressed the importance of reciting Ziyaarate Aashoora in his letters and sayings.

Sureh Al Ikhlas

English translation of Sureh Al Ikhlas.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only.
2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
3. Neither has He an offspring, nor is He the offspring of anyone.
4. And there is none like unto Him.

BENIFITS OF RECITING SUREH AL IKHLAS

Whoever recites this surah hundred times before going to sleep Allah would forgive his sins comitted in forty years.
Whoever recites this surah in his obligatory salats Allah grants him good in this world as well as in the next life and forgives him,
I
mam Jafar al Sadiq a.s said that in salats this surah or surah al Kafirun can be recited in place of any other surah but no other surah should be recited in place of these two surahs.
Imam Ali ibn abi Talib a.s said: “Whoever recites surah al Ikhlas before dawn whatever frightens him would disappear,
he would not make any error that day however Iblis might try.

One day the Holy Prophet saww  said:  O Ali! Sura tul Ikhlaas personifies you.
  • Whoever recites Sura tul Ikhlaas once, will receive the sawab of reciting 1/3rd  of the Quran
  • He who recites it twice will have recited 2/3rd  of the Quran
  • And whosoever recites it thrice will receive the sawab of reciting the whole Quran.
 In the same way,
·       The one who loves you with his heart, will receive the sawab of 1/3rd of Islam.
·       He who loves you with his heart and praises you with his tongue, will receive the sawab of 2/3rdof Islam
·       And he who loves you with his heart, praises you with his tongue and assists you with his hands, indeed his Islam is complete.
Reciting the surah a 100 times after every farizat  namaaz gives the reciter immense sawab. On the Day of Judgment, this person will walk across the pul a siraat (path), with Jibrael leading him. This momin will look into jahannam and pick out those people whom he knows, whatever their sins would be except shirk (polytheism), the people he picks out will be admitted to jannat because of his intercession.

The role of Surah Al Ikhlas in Namaz e Aztaghfar(tauba):
This surah has a very significant importance as it has been said to have rewards of reciting one third of Holy Quran, by Holy Prophet s.a.w.w, therefore its importance is unquestionable. Even in namaz e tauba , Sureh al Fatiha, Sureh Al-Falaq and Sureh An Nas is recited once, but Sureh al Fatiha is recited three times.

sureh al yaseen (first ten ayats)

BENIFITS OF RECITING SUREH AL YASEEN

It is reported in one of Hadith that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "I wish if every person in my Ummah keeps this Surah (Surat Yaseen) in his/her heart.”

Ibn Abbas (r.a) says, "Whoever recites Yaseen in the morning, his work for that entire day will be made easy and whoever recites in at the end of the day, his tasks till the next morning will be made easy." (Sunan Daarimi vol.2 pg.549)

Ma'aqal ibn Yassaar (r.a) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa aalay Wasallam) said, "Yaseen is the heart of the Qur'aan. nobody who intends the Aakhirat shall recite it except that Allah will forgive him. Recite it upon your deceased." (Sunan Abu Dawud) Imaam Haakim has classified this tradition as Saheeh (authentic); Mustadrak al-Haakim vol.1 pg.565 - see al-Targheeb vol.2
pg.376.

Jund ibn Abdullah (r.z) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "Whoever recites Surah Yaseen at night seeking the pleasure of Allah, His sins will be forgiven." (Muwatta Imaam Maalik). Imaam ibn Hibbaan has classified it as Saheeh - Saheeh ibn vol.6 pg.312 (see al-Targheeb vol.2 pg.377)

"The Prophet, s.a.w.w, is reported to have said: Yaseen is the heart of the Qur’an. The one who recites it solely for Allah’s Sake, his sins will be forgiven. Read it on behalf of your dead.” (Reported by At-Tirmidhi)

At the time of Prophet’s migration, when the Quraish were seeking of Him to attack and kill The Prophet, the Prophet s.a.w.w gave all His trusts to hazrat Ali a.s asked him to sleep on His(Prophet’s) bed, went out and put some dust on His hand and on that recite few ayaats of Surah Yaseen ,and throw that over the Quraish attacker people eyes, which had temporarily blinded them.

SUREH AL FATIHA

Sunday, December 6, 2009

The English Translation of Soreh Al- Fatiha (Al-Hamd)

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful.

All Praises to Allah,
Lord/Cherisher/Sustainer of the Universes.
The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Sovereign of the Day of Judgment.
You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.
Guide us to the true path;
The path of those on whom You have bestowed your favour, not of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray.

The benifits of reciting Soreh Al-Fatiha

Surah al-Fatihah is a cure for physical and also spiritual ailments. Without this surah, even the daily prayers are incomplete or not valid. It is indeed a great treasure that has been given to us by Allah (S.W.T) through the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) and no previous prophet has been given anything like it. This surah is also known as 'Ummul Kitab’

In the commentary of Majma'ul Bayan it is narrated that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) said that "whoever recites this surah, he will get the reward for reciting two thirds (2/3) of the whole Qur'an, and will get the reward equivalent to what would be gained by giving charity to all the believing men and women in the world."

Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (A.S.) has said that "whoever cannot be cured by surah al-Fatihah, then there is no cure for that person. In the same narration it is written that if this surah is recited 70 times on any part of the body that is paining, the pain will surely go away. In fact, the power of this surah is so great that it is said that if one were to recite it 70 times over a dead body, you should not become surprised if that body starts moving (i.e. comes back to life)."

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w) once asked Jabir ibn Abdullah e Ansari, "Should I teach you a surah that has no other comparison to it in the whole Qur'an?" Jabir replied, "Yes, and may my parents be ransom upon you O prophet of Allah." So the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w) taught him surah al-Fatihah. Then the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) asked, "Jabir, should I tell you something about this surah?" Jabir answered, "Yes, and may my parents be ransom upon you O prophet of Allah". The Prophet (s.a.w.w) said, "It (surah al-Fatihah) is a cure for every ailment except death."

The benefits of reciting Surah Fatiha are described in the following hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad:

Hazrat Abu Huraira has heard God's messenger declare that "God most high had said, " I have divided the prayer into two halves between me and my servant, and my servant will receive what he asks."

When the servant says, "Praise be to God, the Lord of the universe, " God most high says, " My servant has praised me."

When he says, "The compassionate, the Merciful," God most high says, "My servant has lauded me."

When he says, "Possessor of the day of judgment," He says," My servant has glorified me."

When he says, "Thee do we worship and of Thee do we ask help," He says, "This is between me and my servant, and my servant will receive what he asks."

Then when he says, "Guide us in the straight path, the path of those to whom Thou art generous, not of those with whom Thou art angry nor of those who go astray," He says, "This is for my servant, and my servant will receive what he asks." (Mishkat al Masabih)

THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF AYATAL KURSI

In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, and Compassionate Allah

There is no god but He,
The Living, the Everlasting,
Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep,
To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth.
Who is there that can intercede with His, except by His leave?
He knows what lies before them and what is after them,
And they comprehend not anything of His Knowledge save as He wills.
His throne comprises the heavens and the earth,
The preserving of them fatigues Him not,
And He is the All-High, All-Glorious.

[Al-Quran: Surat al-Baqarah, Ayah 255]

THE FADILATS OF AYAT UL KURSI THROUGH AHADITHS:-

Imam Ali (AS) was told by our Holy Prophet(S.A.W.W) that Qur'an is a great word, and Surae Baqarah is the leader of the Qur'an and Ayatul Kursi is the leader of Surae Baqarah.? In Ayatul Kursi there are 50 words and for each word there are 50 blessings and good in it.

If one recites it after every salaat, the Almighty will make his heart a thankful one (shakireen), and will give him a reward of the prophets, and his deeds will be like those
Of the truthful (siddiqeen) and nothing except  death will stop him from going into heaven.

When leaving home, if one recites it once, the Almighty has one group of Angels to come and protect you. If recited twice, 2 groups of Angels are assigned to do this. If recited 3 times Allah tells the Angels not to worry as the Almighty himself takes care of him(the one who recites).

Holy Prophet (SAWW) said: Qur'an is a great word, and Surae Baqarah is the leader of the Qur'an and Ayatul Kursi is the leader of Surae Baqarah. In Ayatul Kursi there are 50 words and for each word there are 50 blessings and good in it.

To increase light or vision (noor) in the eyes, recite Surae Alhamd once, then Ayatul Kursi and then once the following dua:- "U-eedhu nora basaree binuril lahi alladhi la yutfaa", "I seek refuge for the light of my eyes by the light of Allah, which does not become extinguished".

Holy prophet (SAWW) said: whoever recites the first 4 ayats of Surah e Baqarah, then Ayatul Kursi and then the last 3 ayats of Surah e Baqarah, will not be inflicted with any kind of difficulty in his wealth or himself, Satan will not come near him and he will not forget the Qur'an.

Imam Tirmidhi writes that Abu Hurayrah reports that the Prophet (SAWW) said that whomsoever recites the first verses of Surat al-Mu’minun and then Ayat al-Kursi in the morning, will remain under the protection of Allah Most High until the evening. Similarly, whosoever reads this during the night, will remain under the protection of Allah Most High until the morning.

Imam Muslim writes that Ubayy bin Ka‘b (Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that one day, the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) asked “O Ubayy! What is the most excellent verse of the Quran?” Ubayy replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “In your opinion, what is the most excellent verse of the Quran?” Ubayy bin Ka‘b replied, “Allah – There is no god but He” (i.e. Ayat al-Kursi). The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) placed his hand on his chest and said, “O Ubayy bin Ka‘b! May your knowledge be pleasant for you.”
